Income test
Income from all sources counts, including deemed income from savings, shares and super (see deeming below). Below the free area your pension isn't reduced; above it the pension drops until it reaches nil at the cut-off point.
| Fortnightly income | Free area | Pension reduces by | Cut-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single | $226.00 | 50c per $1 | $2,701.40 |
| Couple, combined | $396.00 | 25c per $1 each | $4,128.00 |
| Couple apart (ill health) | $396.00 | 25c per $1 each | $5,346.80 |
The Work Bonus can reduce the employment income that counts. Cut-offs are higher if you get Rent Assistance.
Assets test
Your home isn't counted. For a couple the limits are for both partners' assets combined.
Full pension: assets up to
| Situation | Homeowner | Non-homeowner |

| Couple, combined | $499,000 | $766,000 |
| Couple apart due to ill health, combined | $499,000 | $766,000 |
| Couple, one partner eligible, combined | $499,000 | $766,000 |

Between the two amounts you get a part pension. Cut-off points are higher if you get Rent Assistance.
